I have owned this rack for 1 month now and I took it on a 3 week Mountain Bike road trip throughout the Southwest US. We have four bikes in our family ranging in frame size and frame styles. They are all mountain bikes. They are all Cross Country 25 to 30 lb. Bikes. The only bike that didn't start falling off the rack was my sons 24" tire Haro mountain bike and I tried them all to see if it would get better. The best thing that happened with this rack was it was destroyed when we were rear ended in Utah.What I liked about the rack 1. The tie down strap for 1 tire on each bike. (It needs 2 straps per bike!) 2. The bottle opener 3. It looked sturdy when first assembled What I didn't like 1. The tire cups don't fit a standard 26" wheel. They definitely don't fit a Mt. Bike Tire 2. The rubber on the frame clamp wore away quickly scratching our frames 3. The frame clamps loosened while driving down the road 4. The flimsy 1.25" receiver with 2"... Loading and unloading bikes from the rack is a breeze and the rack easily folds out of the way when not in use.I have 2 complaints, however. The first is the straps that hold back tire in the wheel pocket. The straps are plastic, and have teeth on them to engage a ratcheting mechanism that you are supposed to use to tighten the strap down. The issue is that the plastic is fairly soft, and even a moderate amount of ratcheting tension will bend or shear off the plastic teeth. In fact, I finally stopped using the ratchets and simply pull the free end the the strap with my hand until tight instead. Strangely enough, even though the strap can easily be removed and replaced in seconds with no tools, Yakima does not appear to offer it as a separate part. You must buy the entire wheel pocket assembly. My other complaint is the 2 inch receiver adapter that comes with the rack. It... I put my mountain bike, road bike, tri bike, or beach cruiser on it and the handles like a champ. The only single problem I had with it is when hauling a bike with large tires (mtb/beach cruiser) the wind would some times torque the tire out of the non-locked tire craddle. This would create a crazy situation in having to pull over immediately. I fixed the problem by putting a little strand of rope around the wheel and the craddle which remedied the situation.
