Air movement is great while the motor is extremely quiet. Installation was simple and the kit came with everything typically needed, though I was lucky enough not to need the balancing kit. The included wall mount controller is nice and works exceptionally well, but be warned that it has a relatively bright LED that could be bothersome at night if visible from the bed.I also purchased the remote control and I am glad that I did. Shortly after I purchased this ceiling fan a friend stopped over. She told me she had the same fan, but the company she purchased it from just sent her a new one...the motor went bad. Her fan was only a couple of years old. When my fan was five years old it would only operate at one speed...low, the light quit working and it would not go in reverse. Two weeks ago I decided to call Minka Aire in California. I spoke to Caesar in the technical department. Caesar asked me to get a ladder and guided me along as I dismantled and rewired my fan from a ladder. He had me disconnect wires from the receiver in the fan, so he could tell me what was wrong with the fan. After ruffly fifteen minutes on hold and another fifteen minutes on the ladder. He said it needed a motor. He then said If I took the receipt back to where I bought the fan they would give me a new fan. I told him after six years it was doubtful if I still had the reciept. He... When installing the Bracket to the box, (electrical box in the ceiling) make a note that the fan bracket base has holes drilled to European spec. that means that you will need to either 1. modify your electrical box by drilling new mounting holes. or 2. drilling the fan bracket base to accommodate the american box. (we did the latter) 2. The fan motor & housing itself are extremely heavy, its possible to do it as a one man job, but be completely ready to install it onto the fan mounting bracket as lifting about 25-35lbs over your head while on a ladder can be quite dangerous. Otherwise, this fan is absolutely great! high powered, silent, reverse mode, all built into the controller. and Thank God they did a 2X50 watt halogen bulb setup, this triumphs the Hunter garbage fan with the 3 x 15 chandelier bulbs by a million times! |
